The Grammar Stage

Grammar mastery, the medieval world.

Fifth grade brings the mastery of English grammar and a thousand years of history, from the fall of Rome through the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Reformation. Students read widely and write with growing precision as the grammar stage nears its height.

5th Grade curriculum.

Bible & Language Arts

Daily Bible, plus penmanship, reading and an in-class reading list, spelling, grammar, and writing build the foundations of language.

History, Geography & Latin

Medieval history from the fall of Rome to the Reformation, with map work, and Latin.

Mathematics & Science

Singapore math, and the study of God’s creation through anatomy, physiology, and Oregon’s plants and wildlife in science.

Music & Art

Choral music by the Kodaly method and studio art in drawing and history-integrated projects.

Physical Education

Twice-weekly physical education with exercises, games, and an emphasis on teamwork and fitness.
