The Grammar Stage

Grammar and the age of exploration.

Third grade sharpens the tools of language, with confident writing and the first formal study of grammar. Students follow the early explorers across the Atlantic, settle into the colonial experience, and trace the recovery of the gospel in the Reformation.

Bible & Language Arts

Daily Bible study and the language arts: penmanship, reading with an in-class reading list, phonics, spelling, grammar, and writing.

History, Geography & Latin

The Reformation and early American history, map skills, and a first year of Latin.

Mathematics & Science

Singapore math and grammar-stage science, including botany, entomology, and astronomy.

Music & Art

Two-dimensional art and choral music sung by the Kodaly method.

Physical Education

Physical education twice a week, with games and general fitness.
